About The Position

SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Storage Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support enterprise storage, backup, replication, and disaster recovery operations within a complex government environment. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise storage and backup solutions while working in direct coordination with the Operations Manager and Government leadership. This role requires deep technical expertise in enterprise storage technologies, data protection strategies, backup and recovery operations, and infrastructure resiliency in secure, mission-critical environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or seven (7) recent years of documented experience relevant to this position
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise storage and backup environments
  • Demonstrated experience implementing solution designs and operating environments compliant with Federal and DoD guidance and policies
  • Experience implementing and managing enterprise storage hardware and software solutions
  • Experience with data replication, backup and restore operations, failover testing, and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Experience in establishing enterprise information systems requirements and supporting enterprise-wide infrastructure designs in environments similar in size and scope
  • Experience estimating and sizing implementation efforts for storage and backup systems, including cost, performance, scalability, manageability, and capacity planning
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy enterprise-level backup and recovery systems supporting enterprise-wide disaster recovery applications
  • Strong understanding of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, backup appliances, replication technologies, and data protection platforms
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, cloud storage solutions, and hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in large-scale enterprise environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with Government leadership and technical teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical, and high-security operational environment
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance preferred or ability to obtain one depending on contract requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Computing Environment certification appropriate to the role is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support enterprise storage and backup operations across mission-critical environments
  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise storage, replication, and backup solutions
  • Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, failover testing, backup validation, and restoration activities
  • Monitor storage performance, utilization, capacity, and availability to ensure operational continuity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage, backup, replication, and recovery issues
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and Government stakeholders to support enterprise infrastructure requirements
  • Implement storage and backup solutions compliant with Federal and DoD guidance, policies, and cybersecurity standards
  • Develop scalable and resilient storage architectures that support enterprise growth and operational requirements
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions to improve storage performance, manageability, and reliability
  • Estimate and size implementation efforts, including capacity, scalability, cost, and performance considerations for storage and backup systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and recovery plans
  • Support enterprise continuity of operations and disaster recovery exercises
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and support personnel
  • Ensure enterprise backup and recovery systems meet recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO)
