The position requires participation in an on-call rotation supporting a 24x7 production environment, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST. The role involves administering and supporting enterprise z/OS mainframe storage environments, managing DASD and tape storage infrastructure, and providing production support for multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD subsystems, and virtual tape environments. Key responsibilities include configuring and maintaining DFSMS components, performing storage provisioning, capacity planning, performance tuning, issue resolution, and monitoring storage health. The role also supports catalog management, VSAM datasets, IDCAMS utilities, and storage-related system maintenance. Collaboration with infrastructure teams for storage modernization initiatives and participation in after-hours support are also required.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of z/OS storage administration and mainframe storage technologies.
  • Strong experience administering DASD and tape storage environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of z/OS fundamentals, MVS, TSO, ISPF, JES2, SDSF, ISMF, JCL, VSAM, catalogs, and dataset management (PS, PDS, PDSE, GDG).
  • Experience with DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM, ICF Catalog, IDCAMS, FDR products, ICKDSF, and CA storage management products including CA Disk, CA Allocate, and CA-1.
  • Familiarity with REXX, SAS, storage reporting tools, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Experience performing storage migrations, replication, disaster recovery support, and capacity planning.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while supporting mission-critical production environments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional infrastructure teams.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mainframe Storage Administration.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise z/OS production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with storage migrations (DASD-to-DASD and Tape-to-Tape) and storage replication technologies.
  • Experience supporting multiple global regions with participation in 24x7 operational support.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in infrastructure administration, systems programming, storage management, and z/OS platform support is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with primary experience in application development (such as COBOL, PL/I, DB2 application programming, CICS application development, IMS application development, Java on z/OS, or application maintenance) are not aligned with the requirements of this infrastructure-focused role.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise z/OS mainframe storage environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Manage DASD and tape storage infrastructure, including configuration, migration, replication, and lifecycle management.
  • Provide production support for multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD subsystems, and virtual tape environments.
