About The Position

This three-month training program, administered by the Musselwhite Academy, is designed to prepare individuals interested in working in an underground mining environment. The curriculum includes Underground Hard Rock Miner – Common Core modules and specialty modules tailored to the industry. Stope School provides trainees with a strong foundational understanding of underground mining, with safety as a top priority. Training involves theory and practical activities aligned with the guidelines of the Common Core Modules, as administered by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Skills Development. Upon successful completion, participants may be considered for a Mine Trainee position, based on performance, operational needs, and available opportunities.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Self-motivation and the desire to learn new skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the three-month Stope School training program.
  • Learn and apply knowledge from Underground Hard Rock Miner – Common Core modules.
  • Engage in specialty modules tailored to the underground mining industry.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of underground mining operations.
  • Prioritize and practice safety in all training activities.
  • Complete theoretical and practical training activities.
  • Potentially advance to a Mine Trainee position upon successful completion and based on performance and operational requirements.
