About The Position

This position, under the day-to-day supervision of the Print Stop Manager, will report to the Business Officer over The Print Stop and Copy Center, a Division of Auxiliary Services. This position will have duties in both UNC Chapel Hill locations of the Print Stop: Student Stores, located at 207 South Road and Print Stop Franklin, 440 W. Franklin Street. This position must show proficiency in methods of access to and preparing print file layout and understanding the tools needed to accomplish this (MS Office suite and a working knowledge of the main components of Adobe Creative Suite tools). In addition, this position must possess knowledge and operation of digital print equipment in a production environment (Production printers, setting tray/media types, finishing options, etc.), as well for Mail Center equipment (folders, inserters, envelope printers). Duties will include expertise on all types of required equipment mentioned, as well as basic experience of various types of punching, binding, and cutting equipment (Coil, GBC , Velo, Slitter, etc.) that is necessary to complete job requests. Duties at our Student Stores location will require interactions with students, faculty, staff, and visitors at our customer facing service desk. The position will use its knowledge of print production to assess orders that are assigned or that result from interactions with persons at our sales counter. Additional duties may be assigned by upline management.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in methods of access to and preparing print file layout.
  • Understanding of tools needed for print file layout, including MS Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of the main components of Adobe Creative Suite tools.
  • Knowledge and operation of digital print equipment in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Mail Center equipment (folders, inserters, envelope printers).
  • Basic experience of various types of punching, binding, and cutting equipment (Coil, GBC, Velo, Slitter, etc.).
  • Ability to interact with customers at a service desk.

Responsibilities

  • Operate digital print equipment in a production environment, including production printers, setting tray/media types, and finishing options.
  • Operate Mail Center equipment such as folders, inserters, and envelope printers.
  • Demonstrate expertise on all types of required equipment.
  • Utilize basic experience with various types of punching, binding, and cutting equipment (Coil, GBC, Velo, Slitter, etc.) to complete job requests.
  • Interact with students, faculty, staff, and visitors at a customer-facing service desk at the Student Stores location.
  • Assess orders based on knowledge of print production, including assigned orders and those resulting from customer interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by upline management.
