About The Position

As the Stewardship Coordinator, you will play a key role on the WSU Cougar Athletic Fund team, helping enhance the donor experience through recognition, communications, reporting, and other stewardship services. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring donors feel valued and connected to Cougar Athletics through strategic engagement and stewardship efforts. In this position, you will manage customized donor acknowledgement letters and emails, lead special projects focused on donor stewardship and engagement, support events and hospitality activities, and help ensure compliance standards related to gift acceptance and use are met. Your attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service will contribute directly to the success of donor relations initiatives. You will work collaboratively as part of a team to maintain highly segmented data and ensure it is used accurately to support stewardship and marketing implementation. You will also have the opportunity to recommend and develop new stewardship approaches while assisting with the creation and delivery of member benefits that strengthen donor engagement. Additionally, you will assist with the development and implementation of mass communications across multiple platforms. This work includes coordinating with graphic design, marketing, and sport program teams to create content that consistently engages donors and supports Cougar Athletic Fund programs. Your ability to build relationships across departments and contribute to compelling communications will be essential in this role. You will also perform other administrative and operational responsibilities in support of donor engagement and stewardship efforts, helping advance the mission and goals of the Cougar Athletic Fund.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing and communications, staff writing, gift solicitation, sponsorship sales, or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments.
  • Must be able to and willing to occasionally travel, including overnight.
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Experience in philanthropy in a university/higher education environment.
  • Stewardship, fundraising, sponsorship sales, marketing, marketing or related work experience within intercollegiate athletics.
  • Work experience that demonstrates excellent written communication skills.
  • Work experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work experience or education that demonstrates strong computer application skills, capabilities with spreadsheets and database systems.
  • Work experience in creative design and the ability to use or learn programs such as Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or similar.
  • Work experience demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and to establish priorities and follow-up in a timely manner.
