About The Position

We are looking for individuals with great attention to detail to join our kitchen team as a Steward. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic and tremendous attention to detail, in the care they take in maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel’s kitchen areas. This role truly is part of the “Heart of the House” and provides key services for culinary and food service teams so they can provide great service to our guests. BASIC FUNCTION: Utility Steward’s primary role is to support everyday culinary operations by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout all kitchen and service areas. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the culinary team operates efficiently by keeping equipment, tools, and workspaces clean, stocked, and inspection-ready at all times. Utility Steward is part of a small, core team creating and executing fun and engaging programming in an interactive branded environment. The World of Whirlpool brand in Chicago is the first of its kind, and potential for growth on our team and this role. We are passionate about making the daily chores of cooking, cleaning, and washing easier and more fun for our employees and our guests.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant, catering, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Meet City and State Food Sanitation requirements (as applicable)
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 75 lbs. (kitchen equipment, food, non-food items)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods of time
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions in English
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Flexible, open-minded, and accommodating
