About The Position

Valley View Casino & Hotel is seeking a Steward to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring all china and glassware is cleaned efficiently and promptly, maintaining adequate stock of silver and dishware for dining venues. The Steward will work under immediate supervision, relying on instructions, pre-established guidelines, and good judgment to perform their duties. This position is a key part of ensuring the smooth operation of the dining venues and upholding the company's Standards of Excellence.

Requirements

  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals written in the English language.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to interpret and carry out an extensive variety of instructions in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to carry out primary duties, responsibilities, and tasks.
  • Must use good judgment when providing information to guests.
  • Must display the ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing and a drug screening test.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to understand oral and verbal communication while using Valley View Casino & Hotel’s communication tools which include but are not limited to radios, phones, and or email.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
  • Ensure compliance with standards for scraping, racking, stacking, and washing of dishware, glassware, silverware, and all cooking pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Keep work area clean and sanitary, and remove all trash.
  • Assist in maintaining standards of health, safety, and sanitation.
  • Clean and stock supplies, such as plates, silverware, pots, pans, and other utensils.
  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment in a safe manner.
  • Clean all hoods, stoves, countertops, and display cases.
  • Participate as a team member with Food Servers, Utilities, Cooks, Supervisors, and other pertinent Company Team Members to ensure a smoothly and efficiently run operation that meets the highest standards of Customer Service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Steward Supervisor.
  • Conduct all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Adhere to performance standards, company policies, and procedures as they relate to the department.
