About The Position

The Sterilization Technician is an entry level position, and no prior dental experience is required. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to enter the dental field, gain hands on experience, and grow within our office. The Sterilization Technician performs instrument cleaning and sterilization according to OSHA and infection-control standards, maintains organization of the sterilization area, monitors and stocks supplies, and provides backup support with seating patients. Sterilization Technicians will also support Oral Surgery as a floater, assisting the clinical team as needed and gaining additional hands-on experience. This position provides the opportunity to learn and develop skills that may lead to growth into a Dental Assistant role.

Requirements

  • No prior dental experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in learning and growing within the dental field.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and accept direction and feedback from the clinical team.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with patients and providing friendly, professional care.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow office policies.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform instrument cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization according to OSHA and infection-control standards.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness before packaging and sterilization.
  • Properly package and prepare instruments for sterilization.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked sterilization area.
  • Monitor and restock clinical supplies and notify the appropriate team member when supplies are running low.
  • Prepare and organize instruments and supplies needed for patient care.
  • Support the Oral Surgery team as a floater and assist with clinical flow as needed.
  • Provide backup support with seating and preparing patients for appointments.
  • Clean, disinfect, and turn over treatment rooms between patients.
  • Assist Dental Assistants and clinical team members as needed throughout the day.
  • Follow all office safety, OSHA, infection-control, and sterilization procedures.
  • Help maintain an efficient clinical flow by anticipating the needs of the clinical team.
