About The Position

This role requires a detail oriented and reliable Sterile Technician who plays a key part in supporting our dental team by upholding the highest standards of infection control, instrument sterilization, and equipment readiness. While primarily supporting dental sterilization workflows, this position may also assist with basic medical sterilization processes as needed. This is a critical role ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and smooth clinical operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain meticulous accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced clinical environment.
  • Reliable, professional, and team oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dental or medical sterilization preferred; willing to train the right candidate.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards (CDC, OSHA, ADA, or medical sterilization guidelines) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with operatory room turnover, including cleaning, disinfecting surfaces, and preparing the room for the next patient.
  • Collect, clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental instruments according to office protocols, CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and state dental board regulations.
  • Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment; perform and document biological spore testing.
  • Maintain instrument trays, cassettes, and procedure set ups for all dental providers.
  • Monitor sterilization indicators and maintain accurate logs.
  • Ensure clinical operatories are stocked with sterile supplies and infection control materials.
  • Assist in operatory turnover using approved disinfectants and protocols.
  • Support sterilization of medical equipment and instruments (e.g., minor procedure trays) following CDC and medical regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper handling, labeling, and processing of medical instruments.
  • Maintain cross department sterilization logs and ensure compliance with applicable medical regulations.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and monitoring of sterilization equipment.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain inventory of sterilization supplies and request replacement items as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant sterilization records, temperature/pressure logs, and spore test results.
  • Follow regulatory requirements including OSHA, WISHA, CDC, and state dental/medical board guidelines.
  • Participate in training related to infection control, sterilization techniques, and safety protocols.
