The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the preparation, care, sterilization, and transportation of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment. This role involves collecting used and contaminated equipment, manually cleaning supplies, operating decontamination equipment, preparing and packing supplies for sterilization, and monitoring sterilization equipment. The technician will meticulously examine supplies to ensure proper cleaning and sanitization, test and report any issues with sterilization equipment, and organize sterilized equipment into instrument trays. Additionally, they will prepare and deliver necessary equipment and instruments for procedures and maintain records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and supplies. Inventory control, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates are also key responsibilities. The work is typically performed in a clinical environment, and the employee is accountable for job-specific obligations and compliance with organizational policies.
