About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician provides hospital and affiliated facilities with sterile-processed materials and equipment. The role follows established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and surgical case cart setup, ensuring quality products for patient care. The technician completes decontamination procedures and places sterile items in appropriate distribution areas, ensuring accurate department labeling.
Requirements
- GED or high school equivalent.
- Two years of sterile processing or operating room experience in surgical instrumentation is preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) is strongly preferred.
- Two years of sterile processing or operating room experience in surgical instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospital and affiliated facilities with sterile-processed materials and equipment.
- Perform established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and surgical case cart setup while ensuring quality products for patient care.
- Follow established procedures to ensure decontamination is complete.
- Place sterile items in appropriate areas for distribution and ensure items are accurately labeled by department.
