About The Position

Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing instruments and equipment. The technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor and cooperates with members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team. The role applies knowledge of sterilization processes across cleaning and decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts according to pick lists or surgeon preference cards.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
• Knowledge and understanding of sterilization processes, including cleaning and decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and distribution.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment.
• Work cooperatively with members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
• Complete assigned tasks using appropriate resources and references for processing instrumentation and equipment.
• Apply knowledge of sterilization processes and develop the ability to work independently in a changing technical environment.
• Process instrument trays for surgical case carts according to pick lists or surgeon preference cards, from cleaning and decontamination through packaging, sterilization, and distribution.
• Demonstrate professionalism and ethical standards.
