About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join their team. This full-time position involves maintaining sufficient supplies on patient units, processing instruments and supplies through cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and storage, and ensuring equipment is maintained. The role requires attention to detail in checking for outdated supplies, rotating stock, and maintaining a clean and orderly department. The technician will also be responsible for checking specialty carts, following up on patient charge compliance, documenting loss of equipment, and maintaining patient care equipment.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
If not currently certified, must successfully complete an approved sterile processing certification program within two years of hire date in department.
Certification must be kept current.
Must have multi-tasking and advanced critical thinking skills, and the ability to maintain these characteristics when working alone.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to keep orderly records.
Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.

Responsibilities

Maintains a sufficient amount of supplies on patient units and distributes supplies to units when requested (including STAT requests).
Processes instruments and supplies by cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and storing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Checks for outdated supplies, rotates supplies and assists in keeping a clean and orderly department by putting supplies away correctly.
Checks specialty carts and follows up on patient charge compliance.
Maintains equipment for patient care.
Documents loss of equipment, instruments, and/or supplies.
