About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician assembles case carts for surgeries and cleans, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes equipment and instruments used within the hospital. The role ensures instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated for safe handling and does not directly manage other caregivers. Sterile Processing supports surgical procedures by cleaning and sterilizing instruments for Operating Room use.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Obtain CRCST certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or SPD Technician certification from CBSPD within 18 months of hire.
• Be able to wear the personal protective equipment required to perform the job safely.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in sterile processing, health care materials management, the operating room, and/or patient care.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, assemble, disassemble, and distribute supplies for surgical cases.
• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Prepare case carts and procedures.
• Operate sterilization equipment.
• Restock department inventory and ensure instruments are stored in the proper location.
• Clean and maintain department equipment.
• Support the organization's vision, mission, values, and Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) continuous-improvement principles.
• Help provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Conduct activities professionally and confidentially; comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; report known or suspected violations; and cooperate with organizational investigations and proceedings.
• Deliver timely, efficient, accurate customer service and/or patient care that promotes goodwill.
• Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
