Sterile Processing Technician

About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician performs duties in Central Supply, including cleaning, wrapping, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment; preparing trays; ordering and stocking supplies; documenting sterilization activity; and performing simple equipment maintenance. The technician must comply with Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals, and be able to organize and complete work in a timely manner.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
May be required to work any day of the week, including holidays and weekends.
Ability to stand for long periods and to lift, stoop, bend, and push.

Responsibilities

Clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using an autoclave and chemical sterilization methods.
Prepare trays.
Order and stock supplies.
Document and maintain accurate sterilization records.
Perform simple maintenance on equipment.
Comply with Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals.
Organize and complete work in a timely manner.
