About The Position

Via Christi is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join their team in Manhattan, Kansas. This full-time role is responsible for inspecting, assembling, and evaluating surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determining the need for repair or replacement, validating set completeness, and facilitating effective sterilization. The technician will operate sterilization equipment, inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning, and perform decontamination of soiled instruments and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols. Additionally, the role involves correcting instrument sets according to current standards and maintaining proper inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Preferred.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, assemble, and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validate completeness of set, and facilitate effective sterilization.
  • Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
