The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, tray assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments for the Operating Room and other departments requiring the reprocessing of surgical instrumentation. This role involves cleaning, disassembling, sorting, decontaminating, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable surgical instrumentation according to manufacturer’s guidelines and departmental policies. The technician will operate automated washers, cart washers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers safely and efficiently, following written instructions. Additionally, the role requires the use of the Abacus Instrument Tracking System for assembling surgical trays and peel-pouched items, and necessitates good communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, when interacting with internal and external customers.
