About The Position

Ascension St. Vincent's Southside Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for their Sterile Processing department. This PRN position operates advanced sterilization equipment, performs meticulous inspections of instruments, containers, and equipment to guarantee 100% cleanliness and functionality. The role involves handling soiled instruments and equipment with precision, following Instructions for Use (IFUs) and strict protocols to ensure complete decontamination. Technicians will build and correct instrument sets according to current industry standards, utilizing established count sheets and high-tech instrument tracking systems. They will proactively maintain inventory levels to ensure case carts are always fully stocked and ready for scheduled procedures. Additionally, the technician will lead quality assurance by performing regular audits of peers to ensure the department maintains the highest safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
