About The Position
Join Our Surgical Team as a Sterile Processing Technician! Our established multi-specialty Ophthalmology group is seeking a meticulous and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our surgical team. You will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our surgical instruments and ensuring a safe and sterile environment for our patients.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a sterile processing department as a technician.
- Knowledge of the sterilization process, aseptic technique, and instrument care.
- Ability to follow manufacturer’s instructions for use (MIFU).
- Basic Life Support certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Sterile Processing.
Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization procedures according to MIFU.
- Assist in preparing the surgical center for daily schedules and between cases.
- Maintain adequate inventory of SPD supplies and report shortages.
- Ensure a sterile environment throughout all procedures.
- Open sterile packs, instruments, and supplies, and assist in setting up surgical cases.
- Report and troubleshoot issues with instruments, sterilizers, and other equipment.
- Implement MIFUs for all instruments and equipment.
- Verify surgeon's preference cards are current and accessible.
- Maintain all aspects of infection control protocols.
- Actively participate in identifying quality improvement and infection control issues.
