About The Position

Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join their team. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reviewing work and checking for errors.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of general, basic sterilization and cleaning techniques
  • One year of sterile processing/instrument technician experience

Responsibilities

  • Support sterile processing operations by decontaminating and sterilizing instruments, assembling and packaging trays, and prioritizing high-use items to meet surgical demands.
  • Monitor sterility, run daily equipment tests, and ensure proper sterilizer function.
  • Maintain clean, stocked work areas, deliver supplies to the OR as needed, and assist with recordkeeping and departmental documentation.
  • Gather all contaminated instruments and supplies and return to sterile processing.
  • Decontaminate all equipment and instruments using proper tools and cleaning agents.
  • Identify frequently used instruments and equipment and ensure those items are prioritized during sterile processing to meet surgical schedule requirements.
  • Assemble trays and package instruments and equipment properly.
  • Monitor sterility dates of supplies.
  • Deliver items to the operating room as requested.
  • Ensure proper operation and perform general maintenance of sterilizer units and instruments daily and report any visible signs of malfunction.
  • Run biological and chemical tests of sterilization equipment daily and record results in appropriate log.
  • Perform cleaning and restocking of department surface areas, racks, case carts, shelves, storage cabinets and all storage area.
  • Assist with data collection, recordkeeping and any other clerical work related to the department.
