Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Reviewing work and checking for errors.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of general, basic sterilization and cleaning techniques
One year of sterile processing/instrument technician experience

Responsibilities

Support sterile processing operations by decontaminating and sterilizing instruments, assembling and packaging trays, and prioritizing high-use items to meet surgical demands.
Monitor sterility, run daily equipment tests, and ensure proper sterilizer function.
Maintain clean, stocked work areas, deliver supplies to the OR as needed, and assist with recordkeeping and departmental documentation.
Gather all contaminated instruments and supplies and return to sterile processing.
Decontaminate all equipment and instruments using proper tools and cleaning agents.
Identify frequently used instruments and equipment and ensure those items are prioritized during sterile processing to meet surgical schedule requirements.
Assemble trays and package instruments and equipment properly.
Monitor sterility dates of supplies.
Deliver items to the operating room as requested.
Ensure proper operation and perform general maintenance of sterilizer units and instruments daily and report any visible signs of malfunction.
Run biological and chemical tests of sterilization equipment daily and record results in appropriate log.
Perform cleaning and restocking of department surface areas, racks, case carts, shelves, storage cabinets and all storage area.
Assist with data collection, recordkeeping and any other clerical work related to the department.
