Sterile Processing Technician Lead Certified
About The Position
This is a Full Time, 40 hours per week position for a Sterile Processing Technician Lead Certified. The schedule is Nights, Sunday – Thursday, 2100 – 0530. The role requires expertise in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and the ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees. The Lead will assume the responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned and assist with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees. Responsibilities also include assisting with case carts management, communicating issues, and discussing instrument needs with various stakeholders. The Lead ensures equipment is functioning optimally, assists with departmental compliance logs, and aids the SPD Manager with policy implementation and enforcement. Special projects and interdepartmental committees may also be assigned. The role requires protecting oneself and others by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of disease.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years' experience in Sterile Processing.
- Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required.
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed
- Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.
Responsibilities

- Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
- Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
- Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
- Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
- Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
- Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
- Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
- Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
- Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
