About The Position

This is a Full Time (40 hours) Sterile Processing Technician Lead Certified position at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Sterile Processing Services. The role involves nights, Sunday through Thursday, from 2100 to 0530. The pay range is $22.90 - $34.35 per hour. The position requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of experience in Sterile Processing, and certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or other sterile processing certification. Certification in Sterile Processing Management is strongly encouraged within three years of hire. The lead technician is an expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle, providing guidance and education to other employees. They may assume the responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned and assist with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing staff. This role also involves assisting with case carts management, communicating instrument needs, ensuring equipment is functioning optimally, and assisting with departmental compliance logs, policies, and special projects. Protecting oneself and others from the spread of disease is a key function.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years' experience in Sterile Processing
  • Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed
  • Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
  • Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
  • Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
  • Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
  • Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
  • Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
  • Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
  • Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
  • Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
  • Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).
