Sterile Processing Technician II
About The Position
At STERIS, Sterile Processing Technicians work behind the scenes in healthcare facilities to support patient safety. This onsite role is based at a STERIS facility in Durham, North Carolina, and supports surgical procedures by ensuring medical instruments are clean, sterile, organized, and available to surgical teams. The position works second shift, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The technician reprocesses surgical trays after surgery, including decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, sterilizing, and assembling instruments accurately and promptly for the next case. The role also operates sterile processing equipment and participates in regular onsite training. STERIS describes its department standard as “100% complete, 100% sterile, 100% on time” and offers career development opportunities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Either one year of sterile processing experience with CRCST or CBSPD certification, or two years of sterile processing experience.
- CRCST or CBSPD certification, or willingness to complete certification within 12 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Reprocess surgical trays after surgery by decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, sterilizing, and correctly assembling them in a timely manner for the next case.
- Operate sterile processing washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic equipment, and drying cabinets.
- Participate in regular onsite training.
