About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician II (SPT) in the Central Sterile Processing Department at Texas Health Plano is responsible for ensuring the sterility and proper functioning of medical instruments and equipment. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in scanning, assembling, and preparing instrument trays for sterilization, as well as operating sterilization equipment. The SPT plays a crucial role in patient safety by maintaining the integrity of the sterile supply chain. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • CSPDT – Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician upon hire required or
  • CBSPD – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution upon hire required or
  • CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician upon hire required
  • Detail oriented

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of sterile processing experience preferred
  • Recent sterile processing experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Performs scanning of instrument trays for location and creation of count sheet/label.
  • Demonstrates proper assembly technique for instrument trays.
  • Demonstrates wrapping/containing of instruments/tray.
  • Performs scanning of instrument trays to track location using the instrument tracking system.
  • Demonstrates the proper loading technique for sterilization method.
  • Scans prepared items into correct sterilizer load.
