The Sterile Processing Technician I is responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, industry standards, recommended practices on sterilization, and regulatory requirements. This position does not require direct patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Knowledge of case cart assembly.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory standards of materials management.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred
  • 1-2 years related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Processes specialty and general instruments.
  • Resets instrument sets without error.
  • Decontaminates instruments and equipment according to procedure.
  • Maintain Central Sterile Department stock levels.
  • Prepares and assembles surgical tray and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing.
  • Communicates instrument repair needs to supervisor.
