About The Position

This position is for a Sterile Processing Technician I at Methodist and University Hospital. It is a full-time role with various shifts available, including days, evenings, and nights. The role involves helping others behind the scenes by performing sterile processing duties and has a direct impact on the organization’s success, supporting the vision of making Indiana one of the nation’s healthiest states. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires completion of coursework towards certification within 2 years of hire date. Completed certification is not required.
  • Requires 12 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature.
  • Requires successful completion of orientation specific to SPD.
  • Requires basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in basic aseptic techniques, medical terminology or a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning, decontamination, and inspection of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Properly wrap, package, and label items according to sterilization standards and departmental protocols.
  • Operate sterilization equipment to ensure all instruments are processed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure sterilized supplies, instruments, and equipment are accurately tracked, stored, and delivered to clinical departments in a timely manner to support patient care.
