About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Tech, you provide staff with the equipment needed for safe and successful procedures through sterilization and processing. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week, at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. The schedule is evenings, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with weekends as needed.

Requirements

• Qualify through one of the following: pass a nationally accredited central service exam and maintain a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential; qualify under the stated hard-to-fill clause; or provide evidence of one cumulative year of Central Service Technician employment or contract services at a healthcare facility between January 1, 2011, and January 1, 2015.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• CRCST certification is listed under licenses/certifications.

Responsibilities

• Process and supply sterile goods and equipment throughout the hospital, including decontaminating, cleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distributing items.
• Ensure appropriate supplies are used when sterilizing items; collect and clean soiled equipment, machines, carts, and shelves.
• Transport needed supplies, medication, and equipment throughout the hospital.
