About The Position

Inova Mt Vernon Hospital is hiring a full-time Sterile Processing Tech Lead for a weekday day shift, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The role decontaminates instruments safely and appropriately and leads staff in the Sterile Processing area. The lead helps ensure team members meet key deliverables and quality standards, resolves challenges, monitors performance, and supports time management and scheduling. Issues may be escalated to senior leaders as needed.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in Sterile Processing.
• High school diploma or GED.
• CRCST or CBSPD certification upon start; the posting also states that RCST is required.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instruments in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Unload case carts and check all items for red tags.
• Sort instrumentation and select appropriate manual or mechanical processing methods to preserve instrument integrity and prevent damage.
• Prepare instruments for decontamination, including flushing lumens, exposing all surfaces, and properly loading washers.
• Operate washer/decontaminators, cart washers, sonic washers, and other equipment in the decontamination area.
• Use instrument-tracking computer software to document all functions in the decontamination area.
• Supervise staff by making assignments, monitoring productivity and breaks, triaging and facilitating workload, and ensuring adequate departmental coverage.
• Oversee and assist Sterile Processing team members to help ensure key deliverables and quality standards are met.
• Address and resolve challenges, manage and track performance, and assist with time management and scheduling.
• Escalate issues to senior leaders as needed.
