About The Position

MercyOne is hiring a Sterile Processing Tech I to build and coordinate instruments and case carts between the Operating Room, ancillary departments, and Sterile Processing. The technician coordinates case carts and add-ons and serves as a Sterile Processing contact for each Operating Room service, with direct contact with physicians, nurses, and scrub techs. The role involves cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation and related equipment used by surgical services and other clinical departments. The schedule is an 8-hour evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and requires holidays, weekends, and on-call availability.

Requirements

• Knowledge of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Knowledge of the basic use of surgical instruments.
• Ability to work holidays and weekends and provide on-call coverage.

Nice To Haves

• Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred.
• High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and coordinate instruments and case carts between the Operating Room, ancillary departments, and Sterile Processing.
• Coordinate case carts and add-ons and serve as a Sterile Processing contact for each Operating Room service.
• Communicate directly with physicians, nurses, and scrub techs.
• Clean, decontaminate, prepare, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and related equipment.
• Facilitate effective departmental and inter-departmental communications and respond promptly, accurately, clearly, and precisely to departmental needs.
• Inform appropriate individuals about problems involving equipment, supplies, instruments, or implants.
• Maintain continuity of communications.
• Handle instruments carefully, identify heat-sensitive items, and separate delicate items to prevent damage.
• Keep washers loaded and operating.
• Maintain accurate records of instruments received and cleaned.
• Follow cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization procedures according to manufacturer instructions.
