About The Position

The Sterile Processing Educator reports to the Sterile Processing Manager. Under limited supervision, the Sterile Processing Educator develops and conducts education programs that enable staff to acquire and maintain the knowledge, rationales, certification and skills necessary to support operational and organizational goals. The educator will also assist updating Instrument Tracking System Data and ensuring all scanning protocols are followed consistently.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and three (3) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating work experience required.
  • Will accept a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or related field and two (2) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room.
  • Required work experience consists of training and on-going education of staff with focus on compliance and meeting goals and expectations of the organization.
  • Required Certified Registered Sterile Processing Technician through HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
  • Must be skilled in computer operation and in working with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Instrument Tracking System.

  • Infrequent working outdoors (temperature extremes).
  • Frequent working from elevated areas.
  • Frequent working in confined/cramped spaces.

  • Continuous full use of both legs.
  • Frequent balance & coordination (lower extremities).
  • Infrequent lift/carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Infrequent lift/lower 50 lbs. from floor to 36”.
  • Infrequent lift up to 25 lbs. overhead.
  • Frequent exertion up to 50 lbs. of force.
  • Continuous maintain corrected vision 20/40 (one or both eyes).
  • Continuous recognize objects (near/far).
  • Continuous color discrimination.
  • Continuous depth perception.
  • Continuous peripheral vision.
  • Continuous hearing acuity (with correction).
  • Continuous tactile sensory function.
  • Continuous gross motor with fine motor coordination.
