Sterile Processing, Lead Certified Technician
About The Position
This is a Full Time, Lead Certified Technician position in Sterile Processing Services at Lexington Medical Center. The role involves expertise in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle, providing guidance and education to other employees, and assisting the Sterile Processing Supervisor with various departmental duties. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage case carts, ensure equipment functionality, and maintain departmental compliance logs. The Lead Technician will also assist with policy implementation, special projects, and interdepartmental committees, while adhering to safety protocols to prevent the spread of disease.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.
- Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed.
- Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.
Responsibilities
- Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
- Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
- Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
- Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
- Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
- Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
- Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
- Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
- Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
- Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
