About The Position

The Sterile Processing OR Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the instrumentation and equipment needs of the surgeon and OR staff are being met on a daily basis. In addition, the liaison will focus on process improvements that impact OR efficiencies, improve OR/SPD communication, and increase capacity for surgical case volume and surgeon satisfaction. Working under the guidance of the SPD manager, the supervisor will utilize knowledge and skills to work independentently in all job functions including assisting the team leads with department operations in the absence of the Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge in all aspects of supply/equipment processing, including surgical instrumentation.
  • Must possess manual dexterity, computer skills, and be able to work under pressure.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge in the use of autoclave, steris, washer/disinfection, sterrad, etc.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, spell and do simple math, write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work closely with others in positive ways.
  • Proficiency with functions in a SPD environment
  • Proficiency at critical thinking in a SPD environment
  • Proficiency with technical skills in a SPD environment
  • Pass and maintain Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) within 6 months of hire date.
  • 3-5 years - sterile processing or equivalent OR experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree
  • One or more years of Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) and Surgical Technologist Certification
  • 3-5 years Level 1 Trauma Center SPD or equivilant OR Experience
  • at least two years of supervisory experience
