About The Position

The K-5 Elementary STEM Teacher will serve as a member of the Specials team, focused on fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture while delivering high-quality, experiential science and technology education. This role leads the design and implementation of schoolwide STEM programming, provides direct instruction to students, and collaborates with classroom teachers to integrate hands-on learning across the school. The Teacher will be the operational backbone of the school's STEM resource library, ensuring consistent implementation of PBIS, data collection, and restorative practices, while modeling compassionate, proactive approaches to student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Science Education, STEM disciplines, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school setting, with direct experience teaching elementary science, math, or engineering concepts.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with proven ability to manage laboratory materials, track inventory, and maintain clear resource documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability duly to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Strong understanding of PBIS frameworks and SEL best practices.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and proactive classroom management.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a bilingual, multicultural learning environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Training or certification in restorative practices preferred.
  • French language proficiency is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly STEM classes as a specials teacher for kindergarten through 3rd grade (K-3) and dedicated science classes for 4th and 5th grade students.
  • Provide engaging, hands-on, and inquiry-based lessons using the school's developed STEM curriculum.
  • Intentionally incorporate schoolwide PBIS systems, positive behavior supports, and SEL lessons directly into STEM classes to cultivate a collaborative learning environment.
  • Support differentiation for students within STEM lessons, collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to provide appropriate accommodations and extensions for diverse learners.
  • Design, develop, and build a comprehensive library of STEM materials, tools, and inventory for campus-wide use.
  • Engage in actively supporting general education classroom teachers by maintaining, organizing, and facilitating a check-out system for STEM materials and kits.
  • Serve as a specialized curriculum resource for the entire school regarding STEM activities, design challenges, and science kits.
  • Continually analyze student outcomes and curriculum alignment to identify ongoing STEM programming needs and opportunities for school growth.
  • Communicate regularly with students, teachers, and families regarding classroom expectations, STEM project progress, and behavioral success.
  • Provide conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative conversations with students during collaborative design challenges and group work.
  • Support the holistic development of students by building strong, respectful, and empathetic relationships.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director in support of school culture and student well-being.
