About The Position

Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a qualified and experienced Elementary STEM teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direction of the Director of Elementary Education and the Supervisor of Instructional Technology, this position is responsible for supporting the implementation of STEM initiatives and Elementary Computer Science Standards. The position is also responsible for collaborating with teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEM and Computer Science activities into the core curriculum.

Requirements

Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an elementary education endorsement.
Evidence of at least three (3) years of exemplary classroom teaching experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with Google platforms.
A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
Knowledge of elementary SOLs and how to integrate STEM into existing curriculum.
Knowledge of Virginia computer science standards.
A commitment to community partnerships and community involvement.

Nice To Haves

Master's in mathematics and/or science and/or STEM or related field.
National Board Certification, Curriculum and Instruction.
Experience in delivering professional development to teachers.
Google certification.

Responsibilities

Supporting the implementation of STEM initiatives and Elementary Computer Science Standards.
Collaborating with teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEM and Computer Science activities into the core curriculum.
Applying science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
Coaching and collaborating with teachers regarding student learning.
Continuing to learn "what works" in classroom instruction.
Integrating STEM into existing curriculum, including knowledge of elementary SOLs and Virginia computer science standards.
Planning for integration of rigorous content, processes, and skills within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction.
Coordinating STEM events and celebrations.
Interacting with others to foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and citizenship.
Understanding the engineering design model.
Utilizing low-cost or open educational resources in designing STEM activities.
Fostering an inclusive learning environment.
