STEM Lead Tutor (Math, CS, Chemistry, Physics, Biology) Spring 2027 (Rehire)
About The Position
The STEM Success Center at California State University San Marcos seeks kind, hardworking, and motivated rehire tutors who enjoy helping others learn. The role supports students in becoming independent, confident problem solvers through collaborative learning and academic support. Tutors provide assistance in Math, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Biology and may be assigned as Embedded Tutors. This is an in-person Instructional Student Assistant position for Spring 2027, available only to rehires of the STEM Success Center. Employment is subject to enrollment or registration as a CSUSM student and available funding. Tutors may work a maximum of 20 hours per week across all campus jobs.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in at least 1 unit at CSUSM.
- Have completed relevant coursework with a grade of B or higher.
- Be in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Be available to work at least 6 hours per week.
- Provide two endorsements from faculty, or from one faculty member and one staff member.
- Be admitted or registered as a CSUSM student.
- Have the ability to learn and perform assigned work, work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students, and accept responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Support students using strategies that promote independent learning.
- Facilitate workshops, review sessions, and group tutoring.
- Develop and update learning materials, including worksheets and practice exams.
- Participate in ongoing tutor training and development.
- Serve as an Embedded Tutor when assigned.
