About The Position

This is an instructional student assistant employment opportunity open to current Stanislaus State students. The role involves supporting a project that examines student engagement and belonging in STEM. The student assistant will collect and analyze quantitative data (student surveys) and qualitative data (interviews and focus groups) for students in a first-year experience course primarily for biology majors. Work will be conducted in close collaboration with Dr. Matthew Cover, professor of biology.

Requirements

  • Current Stanislaus State student, currently enrolled or eligible to enroll.
  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must complete required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
  • Must consent to a criminal and/or child abuse background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong interest in STEM education.
  • Previous experience with qualitative research.
  • Previous experience with mentoring of undergraduate students.
