About The Position

The Steel Operations Specialist is responsible for working with HWI’s steel
customers to consult on operational processes and practices and provide support
on trials and refractory installations as required.  Consulting will include but
not be limited to BOF/EAF/AOD steelmaking process and involvement in metallurgy,
slag chemistry, MgO optimization for improved refractory life, ladle slag
chemistry, EAF power profiles, collect operational data as required, writing
reports and recommendations, etc.

Requirements

• Metallurgical degree or 10 years equivalent experience in EAF, and/or AOD steelmaking  operations required.  Refractory installation knowledge of EAF’s is preferred
• Extensive knowledge of refractory applications in EAF, and/or AOD steelmaking process with an excellent working knowledge of metallurgical slags and the effects of operational practices.
• Minimum of 10 years EAF, or AOD operational melting and steelmaking experience.
• on refractory performance
• Strong customer presentation skills 
• Proficient in MS Office:  Excel, Work and PowerPoint
• Minimum of high school diploma

Nice To Haves

• Refractory installation knowledge of EAF’s is preferred
