About The Position

Ellwood Quality Steel is hiring a production laborer to assist with bottom-pour setup and steel pouring in steel ingot manufacturing. The role operates in a fast-paced environment and involves physically demanding work, including exposure to extreme heat, uneven surfaces, and heights. The position requires regular lifting of up to 55 pounds and comfort using hand tools. Basic computer skills are needed to manage tasks and production records. Candidates must pass a basic skills test, criminal background check, physical examination, and drug screening, and provide a high school diploma or GED upon hire.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly.
• Comfort using hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willingness to work a 12-hour schedule on a 2-on, 2-off rotation that includes weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to pick up overtime shifts when needed.
• Pass a basic skills test, criminal background check, physical examination, and drug screening.
• Provide a high school diploma or GED upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with remote cranes or forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Install brick and other refractories for mold setups.
• Perform minor repairs and clean cast iron hardware.
• Assist with crane hookups.
• Assist the Steelpourer during ingot pouring.
• Create production records.
• Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and front-end loaders.
• Perform general department cleanup.
• Cross-train in other positions.
