What You Will Do The Steam Program Technician is responsible for oversight and optimization of the site-wide steam system. This role focuses on improving efficiency, reliability, and overall performance of steam generation. This position does not operate the system, but works across Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify issues, prioritize improvements, and ensure the steam system is performing as intended.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of steam systems, utilities, and industrial processes (hands-on background helps);
  • Experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant environment preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and identify system-wide issues;
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills;
  • Ability to reduce steam losses and inefficiencies, improve system reliability with fewer repeat issues, and give clear visibility of steam system health and priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of experience in industrial operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Certified or demonstrated skills in electrical, mechanical, and/or welding disciplines.
  • Experience operating process manufacturing equipment and automated control systems.
  • Forklift operation experience and certification.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate steam system performance across the site.
  • Identify inefficiencies, losses and recurring system issues.
  • Drive improvements to reduce fuel usage, water losses, and downtime.
  • Establish and maintain standards for steam system operation and maintenance.
  • Analyze system data and trends to identify problems early.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance on root cause and long-term fixes.
  • Prioritize and track steam-related maintenance and improvement work.
  • Coordinate steam system audits, surveys, and inspections (trap surveys, leak detection, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a site steam improvement plan.
