This role involves operating and maintaining low pressure steam boilers that supply steam for heating buildings and generating power for industrial purposes. The technician will also perform water chemical analysis for boiler treatment and operate automated or computerized systems to control boilers and associated equipment to meet program and business objectives. The position requires monitoring gauge readings, adjusting temperature and pressure, activating valves, and adding chemicals to boiler feed water. Maintenance and repair duties include diagnostic troubleshooting, modifying and repairing electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. A preventive maintenance program must be carried out, including annual boiler disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and regular maintenance tasks like cleaning compressors, tightening pipes, and replacing/repairing piping and valves. The technician will maintain a logbook, interpret drawings, schematics, and diagrams, and set up/maintain workstations, including control of age-controlled items, hazardous materials, and consumables. Computer skills are necessary for time recording, machine systems, business instructions, and trend data analysis. The role also involves identifying opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
