About The Position

Housby is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Steam Bay Technician to clean and degrease commercial trucks, mixers, and heavy equipment before inspection, repair, or paint. This role keeps vehicles ahead of the VDA and production schedule so technicians can begin with clean, inspectable, production-ready equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to work safely in wet, dirty, hot, humid, and physically demanding conditions.
  • Required use of eye, hearing, foot, hand, and other assigned personal protective equipment.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and dependable transportation to and from work.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of vehicle washing, detailing, power washing, industrial cleaning, or similar manual-labor experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, punctuality, and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to follow priorities, work with minimal supervision, and communicate conditions that could delay inspection or production.
  • Basic mechanical awareness is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize vehicles according to the VDA and production schedule and complete cleaning before the scheduled appointment or repair start.
  • Thoroughly degrease, wash, and clean damaged and inspection areas so estimators and technicians can accurately identify visible and concealed conditions.
  • Report visible damage, fluid leaks, loose components, unsafe conditions, or other concerns discovered during cleaning.
  • Confirm each unit is sufficiently clean and ready for VDA before releasing it from the steam bay.
  • Record when units enter and leave the bay and accurately update assigned work and job status.
  • Operate hot-water steamers, pressure washers, degreasing tools, and cleaning-chemical systems safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect hoses, fittings, guards, and equipment before use and complete routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
  • Keep the steam bay clean, organized, and free of unnecessary vehicles.
  • Drive units into and out of the steam bay when authorized and coordinate daily priorities with the production team.
  • Follow chemical labels, safety data sheets, wastewater, drainage, environmental, PPE, and workplace-safety procedures.
  • Assist with approved body-shop support tasks when the steam schedule is current and as directed by the production foreman.
  • Maintain dependable attendance, punctuality, equipment readiness, and a safe, organized bay.
  • Must follow the company's safety rules and policies.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
