About The Position

Advent Services is seeking a Statistical and Psychology Research Professional to provide subject matter expertise to the USAFSAM Department of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FE), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES), Aeromedical Operational and Clinical Psychology Branch (USAFSAM/FESP). The goal is to expand consultation and research capabilities to improve the assessment, monitoring, training, and treatment of airmen in high-risk, high-demand career fields throughout their lifecycle, focusing on readiness, health, and performance. This role will be accomplished primarily at a fully remote, off-site location, approved for use of DoD data and/or DoD equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline.
  • Expert knowledge with at least 5 years of experience in database development, gathering and organizing data supporting analyses for a wide range of analytical procedures, research report writing, and developing actionable recommendations for improving human performance based on research.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing and conducting statistical data analysis using software such as JMP, SPSS, R, etc.
  • At least 5 years of experience with developing products presenting research outcomes (e.g., statistical results and interpretations), to include professional presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and/or technical reports.
  • At least 5 years of experience engaged in administrative management with regard to study design, methodology, and dissemination of results regarding empirically based human performance research studies.
  • A signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place with their company based on potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctoral degree (or Master’s degree plus 7+ years of relevant experience) specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline.
  • Experience with human performance and behavioral science research within the Department of War (DoW).
  • Experience developing and administering comprehensive, validated psychological instruments via mobile and web-based capabilities.
  • Experience as an author of publications in peer-reviewed journals or official USAF/DoW technical reports in behavioral science with regards to human performance and behavioral science research.
  • Certification in administering psychological assessments (e.g., NEO, Hogan, EQ-i) and providing individualized feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive study protocol, including hypothesis, methodologies, collection strategies, and overall statistical analysis of study data in consultation with USAFSAM/FESP professional staff.
  • Provide customer leadership with relevant scientific literature review and data analyses, as well as participate in related discussions with USAFSAM/FESP staff.
  • Confer with and advise USAFSAM/FESP professional staff regarding optimal statistical approaches to analyze study data.
  • Perform statistical analyses of study data using descriptive and inferential statistical procedures.
  • Minimize any threats to the validity of the statistical products or online data repositories, as well as maintain the data in a secure fashion consistent with IRB protocol and safeguards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of screening data, contents of technical reports, and presentation of data deemed sensitive and not releasable to the general public.
  • Complete the appropriate IRB paperwork and training requirements for conducting research.
  • Prepare reports of scientific/statistical results in support of scientific literature publication, in coordination with USAFSAM/FESP and 711 HPW staff.
  • Travel, as needed, to provide professional support, customer consultations, and research presentations at line leadership meetings and professional conferences.
  • Work with USAFSAM/FESP personnel regarding personal limitations on travel scheduling.
  • Maintain communications with project personnel that facilitate teamwork; adhere to strict confidentiality and classification requirements in all forms of communication.
  • Be responsible for data management and coordinating processes with project team members, which shall include acquisition, input, and maintenance of electronic data.
