About The Position

This is a Stationary Engineer role responsible for all aspects of hospital building maintenance, equipment, and operating systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of complex hospital facilities by maintaining HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and medical equipment. This position requires deep knowledge of life safety regulations and regulatory compliance standards including NFPA, Joint Commission, CDPH, OSHA, and CMS. Your expertise will directly contribute to JLL's mission of delivering exceptional facility management services while ensuring patient safety and operational excellence in healthcare environments. This is a union position.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, Joint Commission, CDPH, OSHA, and other standards as they relate to hospital facilities
  • Experience with HVAC systems including chillers, package units, air handlers, fan coils, boilers, steam systems, and pneumatic controls
  • Proficiency in plumbing systems including fixtures, hydronics, mechanical systems, pneumatics, and pumps
  • NFPA70E certification for electrical troubleshooting, building maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Knowledge of medical equipment systems including vacuum, medical air, and EOC, and Life Safety regulations
  • Experience in all aspects of facility and equipment inspections and maintenance
  • Knowledge of OSHA, JACHO, CMS, NFPA, and other regulatory compliance expectations
  • Enrollment in the union local 39, 3 days after your start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in hospital or healthcare facility maintenance
  • Additional certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Experience working in Joint Commission-accredited facilities

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate HVAC systems including chillers, package units, air handlers, fan coils, boilers, steam systems, and pneumatic controls
  • Perform plumbing maintenance and repairs on fixtures, hydronics, mechanical systems, pneumatics, pumps, and associated components
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and inspect electrical systems for building maintenance in compliance with NFPA70E standards
  • Conduct general building maintenance including patching, painting, door and hardware repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain medical equipment systems including vacuum, medical air, and EOC in accordance with Life Safety regulations
  • Perform comprehensive facility and equipment inspections, ensuring compliance with OSHA, JACHO, CMS, NFPA, and other regulatory standards
  • Document all work efforts and maintenance activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
