Stationary Engineer

Mondelēz International•Chicago, IL

About The Position

The Stationary Engineer ensures the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of boilers, air compressors, ammonia chillers, HVAC equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, and high-speed processing and packaging equipment. The role includes operating, troubleshooting, analyzing root causes, testing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on these systems and related facility equipment. The engineer diagnoses and repairs production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment, provides technical assistance when facility problems arise, and collaborates with building engineers and others to identify and solve problems. The position also involves working from shop and layout drawings, understanding equipment operating sequences, maintaining measurement and testing equipment, and installing air, liquid, and steam piping without drawings. The engineer must know piping circuits and distribution-system interlocking sequences, placement, and switching procedures, and ensure work complies with bakery practices, safety requirements, sanitation standards, GMPs, health codes, NEC and NFPA standards, and food-safety policies. The role covers steam and compressed-air systems, HVAC units, ammonia chillers and related pumps, wastewater and water-treatment systems, high- and low-pressure steam boilers, liquid-delivery systems, general building systems, and natural-gas systems. The position is regular manufacturing work on the third shift, Monday through Friday, from 10:15 p.m. to 6:15 a.m.
