About The Position

A Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of stationary mechanical systems, including boilers, HVAC systems, generators, turbines, compressors, pumps, and building automation systems. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of facility equipment to support continuous building operations.

Requirements

  • Completion of required certifications (boiler, ammonia, safety).

  • Flexibility to work extended hours or support off-shifts when needed.
  • Ability to represent the site during audits and senior leadership reviews.
  • Requires use of cold-protective PPE.
  • May involve standing, lifting, and walking in refrigerated zones for extended periods.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements required.
  • Must be able to stand for hours with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Employees must follow hygiene and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear (gloves, hairnets, etc.).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, maintains, and repairs large building systems such as boilers, HVAC units, air compressors, refrigeration systems, pumps, and electrical systems.
  • Ensures proper functioning of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to provide a comfortable indoor environment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and repairs on all building systems.
  • Diagnoses and resolves mechanical or electrical malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Identifies system inefficiencies and implements corrective actions to improve system performance.
  • Supervises lower-level engineers or maintenance workers, providing guidance, training, and assistance as needed.
  • Reviews and approves work orders, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to safety standards.
  • Develops and maintains technical manuals, operational procedures, and training programs.
  • Ensures all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to safety, environmental impact, and energy efficiency.
  • Adheres to safety protocols in the operation of boilers, elevators, and other equipment.
  • Participates in safety inspections and audits.
  • Conducts routine inspections and monitoring of systems and equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Maintains detailed records of system performance, maintenance logs, and inspections.
  • Identifies signs of wear and tear or inefficiencies and schedules repairs before failures occur.
  • Monitors energy consumption and suggests methods for reducing energy costs through system upgrades or operational changes.
  • Implements energy-saving initiatives, such as controlling temperature or humidity levels based on occupancy or environmental conditions.
  • Collaborates with other engineers, contractors, and facilities management teams to support large-scale building operations and projects.
  • Provides technical advice for system upgrades, replacements, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Responds to emergencies like power failures, mechanical breakdowns, or heating and cooling issues, providing immediate solutions to restore operations.
  • Prepares reports on system performance, breakdowns, repairs, and energy usage for senior management or regulatory bodies.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date logs of repairs, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Meet daily production targets by operating efficiently.
  • Use materials responsibly to support cost, waste, and output goals.
  • Follow production plans and instructions to support overall business goals.
  • Help reduce downtime by reporting issues quickly and keeping the line running smoothly.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient workstation to support smooth operations.
  • Use raw materials, packaging, and supplies correctly to avoid waste.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, efficient results.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) quality checks, testing, and documentation requirements.
  • Stop and escalate if product quality is not correct.
  • Ensure products meet safety, quality, and environmental standards at every stage.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene rules, including proper sanitation and allergen controls.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Follow all safety rules and help maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
  • Support team members, communicate clearly, and work together to hit daily goals.
  • Participate in required training and development to build skills and grow in the role.
  • Take responsibility for attendance, punctuality, and teamwork expectations.
  • Report hazards, near misses, or unsafe behaviors to help strengthen the safety culture.
  • Follow all company policies, including safety, quality, and GMP requirements.
  • Comply with regulatory, environmental, and food safety standards each shift.
