Perform all types of work involved in the construction, maintenance, rebuild, removal, operation, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Assist in responding to emergency call-outs on station trouble and coordinating prompt restoration of service to customers as required. This role involves working on energized equipment up to 260 volts, and after six months, assisting with work on conductors and equipment energized at voltages above 750 volts with direct supervision. The position requires selecting proper prints and/or drawings, using various test equipment, and assisting in the maintenance and repair of station equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and rotating machinery. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining station batteries, assisting with station work like installing conduit, pipe, cable, and wire, digging trenches, and climbing station structures. The role involves using various tapes, insulating materials, paints, and varnishes, and understanding their proper application. Additionally, the employee will perform visual inspections, read gauges, apply start-run-stop tests on emergency generators and pumps, report abnormal conditions, replace lamps and switches, and install/maintain signal and communication systems. The job also includes assisting with electrical tests, station switching, checking equipment clearances, making de-energized tests, and placing grounds. Knowledge of steel and aerial lift rescue is required. The employee will maintain records, prepare reports, attend and participate in training, and assist in training other employees. Operation of various company vehicles, specialized equipment, hand and power tools is also part of the role. The employee must become familiar with the Company's safety rules and practices, and perform duties in accordance with safety rules and operating regulations.
