As an NDT Assistant, you help ensure critical infrastructure—including pipelines, pressure vessels, and structural steel—is safe and reliable. Working closely with certified NDT Technicians, you assist with inspections using non-destructive methods such as radiography, ultrasound, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, leak testing, and visual inspection. The role involves traveling to job sites, which may include plants, pipelines, and industrial facilities, sometimes early or overnight. You will help set up, prepare, calibrate, and operate inspection equipment; assist technicians during examinations; help identify material defects; and document results or assist with cleanup. You must follow safety procedures, including those related to radiation, heights, confined spaces, and other job-site hazards. Work takes place outdoors and in industrial environments and may involve long periods on your feet, extended travel, demanding schedules, and physically strenuous tasks. PROtect supports career growth through training, certification support, advancement paths, and opportunities to progress into specialist, leadership, inspection, project management, or QA/QC roles.
