About The Position

Parallel18, a program of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust, is seeking a Startup Specialist to execute the fundamental offerings of its programs. This role is crucial for the development and growth of participating startups, working closely with founders, investors, and mentors to help businesses scale globally. The position involves building and nurturing relationships within the Parallel18 community to expand the program's reach and impact. The ideal candidate will have a passion for giving back to the entrepreneurship and innovation community in Puerto Rico and be adaptable to evolving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of startups, providing regular support and validation of their progress and challenges.
  • Identify and monitor promising leads for sourcing startups for the investment portfolio or program participation.
  • Execute the acceleration curriculum effectively.
  • Ensure strategic and responsible use of program funds and resources by entrepreneurs.
  • Assist in planning and executing events, workshops, and conferences for investment readiness and capacity-building.
  • Contribute fresh perspectives to enhance community and portfolio company engagement.
  • Connect startups with investors, mentors, companies, and universities, in collaboration with Corporate Relations, Ventures, and PRSTRT.
  • Perform research to help startups resolve technical challenges by connecting them with appropriate resources.
  • Manage outreach efforts to service providers and tech companies for pro bono or discounted perks for entrepreneurs.
  • Provide a communication channel between stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Assist in coordinating events, panels, and speaking opportunities between founders and universities/stakeholders.
  • Participate and represent Parallel18 in local startup events, entrepreneurial engagements, and university outreach.
  • Promote Parallel18 through speaking engagements, business expositions, and networking events.
  • Manage and engage with the Parallel18 community platform, including communication channels and weekly updates.
  • Maintain an interactive dashboard for cohorts to track program progress and growth data.
  • Assist in data management and analytics by obtaining quarterly/yearly updates and metrics for the Impact Report.
  • Provide support in evaluating and analyzing portfolio companies and potential participants.
  • Assist in building presentations, reports, memos, and other internal communications.
  • Provide support for the preparation, management, and execution of internal and external events.
  • Manage and maintain in-house applications.
  • Draft communications to current and potential stakeholders regarding Parallel18 Programs or startup growth.
  • Independently oversee and handle specific projects supporting startups.
  • Perform other activities aligned with the program and its matrix organization as requested by supervisors.
