About The Position

A Starter/Ranger is responsible for the overall management of orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses. This role involves checking tee sheets, directing players, informing them about course conditions, and monitoring the timeliness of play. The position requires familiarity with golf rules and courses, ensuring players have a positive experience while adhering to guidelines.

Requirements

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Minimum three months related experience.
Knowledgeable regarding the general rules of the play of golf.
Able to stand for several hours consecutively.
Physically able to operate a golf cart, getting in and out periodically for several hours a day.
Able to tolerate adverse weather conditions.
Good interpersonal skills.
Must have the ability to see and react to the surroundings including errant golf balls.
Must understand and follow proper golf etiquette while completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Manage orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses.
Check tee sheets and direct players to the starting tee in a timely fashion.
Inform players about daily course conditions, special playing conditions, and general guidelines.
Be familiar with the courses of responsibility, monitoring specific conditions and tracking the timeliness of play.
Be accessible to players for service or assistance at all times.
Be aware of surroundings with an understanding of a golf environment.
See and react to surroundings including errant golf balls and understand and follow proper golf etiquette.
Check for payment vouchers of players.
Check for proper functioning of certain equipment in and around the golf course.
Report faulty golf course conditions.
Keep accurate records.
Perform other duties as assigned, such as returning abandoned carts, delivering messages, people, and equipment to respective golf courses.
Help others when the occasion arises.
