The Startup Manager will manage, monitor, and control the commissioning, startup, testing, client turnover, and initial operation activities to ensure work is performed in conformance with project objectives and requirements.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of safe equipment operation and controls, equipment protective systems and devices, LOTO procedures and hazardous materials communication system.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated experience at turnover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and/or start up within the construction industry (Step I).
  • 10-15 years of demonstrated experience at turnover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and/or start up within the construction industry (Step II).
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience at turnover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and/or start up within the construction industry (Step Sr.).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the overall safety, quality, schedule, commissioning, staffing, material control and field-based procurement for the startup and commissioning process.
  • Plans, implements and directs pre-commissioning testing programs and start-up procedures on projects.
  • Responsible for developing startup schedule and milestones for incorporation into project schedule to assist project team in ensuring a successful overall schedule completion.
  • Responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating all assignments for start-up staff.
  • Responsible for the safe startup and plant operations activities including equipment and system checkout, inspection for proper installation, review for correct design and evaluation of expected system and equipment operation parameters under temporary start up conditions.
  • Reviews design changes and provide reports to engineering liaison to assist in design change preparation.
